Look ma, no hands!

We witnessed the moment he realized he could sit up on his own - he caught his balance, got real wide-eyed, and squealed with excitement! The camera wasn't around at the time, but this video was the next day. He's been practicing his coordination a lot and is even better at sitting now. Maybe even trustworthy not to fall backwards and conk his head! (Olympics 2012, here we come!)

The month of eating

We have an expert eater on our hands. Too bad we're so terrible at shoveling it in!

Hurry and play before he makes me take it down!

First swimming lesson

Daddy's appendectomy

What blog would be complete without documenting emergency visits to the hospital? You can see Daddy here, post-op and looking pretty good after a dose of oxycontin! Fortunately, Dad's surgeon was well-practiced -- his was 1 of 15 appendectomies this night. Home the next day and back to house projects shortly after!

Loving our new deck!

Did we say THANK YOU to Grandma and Grandpa and Gram and Poots for helping us with deck and kitchen projects?!?

THANK YOU!

I love Grandparents and Great-Grandparents!

Oliver had some candid shots while visiting with Grandma, Grandpa, and Gram and Poots one weekend in July. He really enjoyed watching Papa, Grandpapa, and Pootsy build him a new deck from the ground up...even if he didn't show it for Grandpa Carlson! He and his parents are all very thankful for the help. They are spending every evening and weekend hour together on their lovely deck. The dogs too!

Oliver eats!

Just one day after turning 6 months old, Oliver was ready to try his first "solids." The menu d' jour? Rice cereal. The response? See for yourself!

Perfect summer afternoon in Daddy's arms

Her name was Stella...

We don't know who she is or where she comes from, but she sure is cute! These two really took a liking to each other one afternoon in the park.

Happy 4th of July Grandpa and Grandma Carlson!

Oliver got to spend his first 4th of July with Grandma and Grandpa Carlson, Great-Grandma and Grandpa Brandt (aka Poots and Gram), and Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Second Cousins. We wish we had pictures of everyone!

No fireworks this year. The Surgeon General warns against whipper snappers and snakes for 6-month olds. But we see many o' sparklers in his bright future! (waa-waa) Oliver enjoyed hanging out with everyone and wants to kick back with you again soon.

These good looks run in the family!

Oliver loved looking at all these familiar faces - Aunt Denna, Aunt Deb, and Cousin Super-Madi! He sends his love and special thanks for coming to see him. :)

Are these Carlsons or what?!?

Oliver stayed up way past his bedtime so he could say HI to Second Counsin Ricky.

Mama G visits Minnesota!

Years after we relentlessly picked on adolescent boys, we have two boys of our own. You can bet we'll do anything in our power to protect them from ruthless "7th grade girls"!
(coined by Dad Ferguson)
Introducing the new "Double Trouble" - Leo and Oli!

Holy Shit!

Having just walked in the door, home from Oregon, Papa learns how to really get a giggle out of his son...

Oliver makes the rounds!

Oliver enjoyed seeing everyone again. None of our dear friends have ventured into parenthood yet, but - as you can see - they are all naturals!

Grandma Ferguson

"Oliver, you and I need to have a serious talk about this livin' in Minnesota..."
